INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL IN KHABAROVSK KRAI

The International Music Festival under the direction of the outstanding musician, People’s Artist of the USSR Yuri Bashmet is annually hosted by Khabarovsk Krai and is one of the largest cultural events in the Far East.

The festival program presents a variety of genres and approaches to musical art. Among the festival participants are singers of the Bolshoi Theatre Youth Opera Program: Maxim Lisiin (baritone), Albina Tonkikh (soprano), and Anna Yurkus (mezzo-soprano), as well as musicians Mikhail Beznosov (clarinet), Ksenia Bashmet (piano), Sergey Davydchenko (piano), Daniil Kogan (violin), Valeria Abramova (violin), maestro Yuri Bashmet, the Komon folklore ensemble, actor Nikolai Chindyaikin, soloists of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Russia, the Grammy-winning chamber ensemble Moscow Soloists, and others.

The festival concerts take place both in Khabarovsk and in other locations in Khabarovsk Krai. An important part of the festival is its educational programs and concerts for children, including the International Music Academy for Gifted Children, which offers talented children a unique opportunity to meet leading Russian music pedagogues and take part in their masterclasses.

The festival invariably features Khabarovsk Krai musicians. One of the nights on the festival program is the concert given by the Far Eastern Academic Symphony Orchestra that has a long-standing creative cooperation with Maestro Bashmet.
