INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL IN KRASNOYARSK
Maestro Yuri Bashmet’s festivals have become important events in the cultural life of Moscow, Sochi, Yaroslavl, Rostov-on-Don, and Khabarovsk. The Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk joined the list of festival cities in May 2021, which was delightful news for art admirers.
“Music is like air, water, and food. All people need it, regardless of where they live and what they do. I do not look upon cities as big and small, industrial and culture-oriented. Every person who comes to the concert is important to me. I say this quite sincerely. I want to fill the audience with love for what we do on stage and awaken its emotions, so there is interest and the desire to come to concerts again and again. And I am happy that we have a new city that I can consider my home for the duration of the festival,”
says Yuri Bashmet
The festival in the Krasnoyarsk region immediately attracted a broad audience. The first festival featured seven concerts, two of which took place outside Krasnoyarsk, in the cities of Norilsk and Zheleznogorsk.
The festival concert programs have featured actors Evgeny Mironov and Polina Agureyeva, musicians Ye-Eun Choi (violin, Korea-Germany) and Ksenia Bashmet (piano, Russia), the Grammy-winning chamber ensemble “Moscow Soloists” conducted by Maestro Bashmet, and many others.
The festival program also includes master classes within the framework of the project “Yuri Bashmet to Young Talents of Russia,” aimed at discovering and supporting gifted children across the country.
Krasnoyarsk also hosts the Siberian Youth Symphony Orchestra, a branch of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Russia conducted by Maestro Bashmet.
