The opening gala concert of the VIII Yuri Bashmet International Music Festival in the Southern Urals was held in Chelyabinsk.

On October 15, the Opening Gala Concert of the VIII Yuri Bashmet International Music Festival in the Southern Urals, dedicated to the music of the great Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, took place on the stage of the Chelyabinsk Philharmonic.

The program of the evening included Samarin’s Elegy, Pezzo capriccioso for cello and strings, Lensky’s Aria from the opera Eugene Onegin arranged for oboe and strings, two romances “You Don’t Like Me” and “Crazy Nights”, as well as three pieces for violin and string orchestra: “Reflection”, “Melody”, Waltz-scherzo. In the second section of the concert, “A Memory of Florence” was performed.

Ramilya Baymukhametova — soprano

Moscow Soloists Chamber Ensemble

Maestro Yuri Bashmet was at the conductor’s desk all evening.

The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
