MUSIC ACADEMIES IN RUSSIAN REGIONS
Yuri Bashmet’s International Music Academies were created within the framework of the project “Yuri Bashmet to Young Talents of Russia.”
The academies bring together young talents and prominent musicians and pedagogues. The academies create a unique environment that inspires their participants to further professional development.
The music academies offer a week of classes in different musical categories. The main time is devoted to lessons, masterclasses, and creative meetings, as well as concerts, which give academy students the opportunity to perform together with famous musicians.
After attending the academies, many participants become part of the professional music community: they enter universities and participate in prestigious competitions, thus gradually gaining confidence.
The first Yuri Bashmet Academy took place in Samara in 2011. Since 2016, the International Music Academy has been taking place annually in Sochi. In 2018, the Children’s Music Academy of Rosatom Cities started its work.
The Wind Music and Baroque Music Academies in Yaroslavl and the Academy of Strings in Rostov-on-Don are extremely active in developing their programs. The music academies take place annually in Russian regions, including Sochi, Samara, Yaroslavl, Rostov-on-Don, Khabarovsk, Klin, Krasnoyarsk, and others.
The music academies contribute to improving the quality of music education; the development and implementation of innovative programs and individual approaches work towards early discovery and development of young talents.
