Master classes for children at the XIX Winter International Art Festival in Sochi

The XIX Winter International Art Festival was held in Sochi from February 18 to March 1. Every year, the festival pays special attention to the implementation of projects for children and youth aimed at fostering interest in art and creativity and contributing to the formation of a common cultural level of the younger generation.
This year, the forum hosted master classes from four museums in Moscow and the Moscow region:
Children’s Center of the Museum of Moscow organized two workshops: “Opera in a box” and “Plasticine cartoon”. In the first workshop, the participants created funny operettas based on Ivan Krylov’s fables, mini-theaters and puppet shows. And in the second, to the music of Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev, the children created characters and decorations from plasticine, and then filmed cartoons using frame-by-frame animation.
The State Historical Museum conducted a master class “Historical mosaic”. The students got acquainted with the types of mosaics, materials and tools for its creation, and then made a mosaic panel in an ancient technique using images of ornaments from the interiors of the Historical Museum.
The Tchaikovsky State House-Museum presented three programs: The Children’s game program “I am a theater artist”, where children got acquainted with Tchaikovsky’s ballet and created theatrical costumes. The program “Rise to the rank of General” with a master class “Postcard for a hero”, dedicated to the military past of the Tchaikovsky family, as well as an interactive lesson-seminar “what can I learn from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky”.
The Vladimir Dahl Russian State Museum of the History of Literature conducted lectures and guided tours of the exhibition “It’s not your fault that you’ve gone beyond a century”: A. P. Chekhov and Theater. The audience got acquainted with the history of Chekhov’s plays, from one-act vaudeville to major dramas, learned about the first productions in Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as about the creative principles of the writer.
