«A RENDEZVOUS IN MOSCOW»
The musical play
“I’m absolutely convinced that this play will live on for many years because it has a tone of kindness, love, youth. It’s a very kind story about people and the city.”
Yuri Bashmet
The musical play A Rendezvous in Moscow is a story of love. It is a story of love for the city that makes miracles possible, love for youth that fills one with faith in one’s own powers, and love for music, inexplicable and beautiful. The play draws a look at Moscow from above, where there is a lot of sky and sunshine, where everyday problems seem petty, and a journey across the rooftops becomes a reality. It transports the spectators for two hours from the familiar Moscow to a Moscow mystical and refined. The play tells the story of a young woman called Vera, who comes to the capital from a small town to take liberal arts college entrance exams. She is yet unaware of the extraordinary acquaintances and difficult choices awaiting her.
A Rendezvous in Moscow is full of humor, music, and dancing.
The music for the performance was written by Yuri Bashmet’s longtime friend, the composer Alexander Tchaikovsky. Maestro Yuri Bashmet says he always expects masterpieces from Alexander Tchaikovsky.
«Moscow is a city of rings: the Boulevard, the Garden, the Third, the Moscow Ring Road. We wanted to ensure a plot twist by means of the circle of the stage. The idea for the performance came from Alexander Tchaikovsky. He said there were plays, ballets, and operas about all cities, but almost nothing had been written about Moscow. He suggested dedicating a musical play to our city: a day in the lives of three young people. It is a very touching story of love, youth, and warm and hospitable Moscow. The performance is full of musical hits», says Dmitry Grinchenko, general director of the Russian Concert Agency.
