The festivals of Мaestro Yuri Bashmet have long established themselves as the brightest events in the cultural life of such cities as Moscow, Sochi, Yaroslavl, Rostov-on-Don and Khabarovsk. The appearance on the musical map of Russia of the first and such a major event in Siberia has undoubtedly become a true celebration of art.

“Music and art are like air, water and food. All people need it, no matter where they live or what they do. For me I don’t divide cities into big ones and small ones, industrial cities and cities where the arts are more active. For me, every person who comes into the hall is important. I say this from the bottom of my heart. I need to infect them with love for what we do on stage. To ignite emotion in them, and then there will be interest and a need to come back to the concerts again and again. And I am delighted that we have a new city, which I will be able to consider my home during the festival,” emphasised Yuri Bashmet.

The festival in Krasnoyarsk region cities is currently the youngest of all Maestro Bashmet festivals. The festival was first held in May 2021, but from its very first notes it has made a name for itself as a true celebration of the arts. Seven concerts were held in the Krasnoyarsk region, two of which took place outside the city centre in Norilsk and Zheleznogorsk.

The festival programme is distinguished by a careful selection of musical compositions and notable participants – Evgeny Mironov, Polina Agureeva, Ye-Eun Choi (violin, Korea-Germany), Ksenia Bashmet (piano), Grammy award winner, the Moscow Soloists chamber ensemble under the direction of Maestro Bashmet and many others.

It is important to note that the festival programme, in addition to the concerts themselves, also included educational projects for gifted young musicians: master classes within the framework of the project “Yuri Bashmet to the young talents of Russia” are held in the region. The task of the festival’s educational programme is to identify and support gifted children in various parts of the country.

In addition, in Krasnoyarsk the Siberian Youth Symphony Orchestra was formed, which will be a branch of a unique Youth Symphony Orchestra of Russia, conducted by Maestro Bashmet.
